Adam Morton reports (9 September) that three "top" scientists consider the CO2 emission reductions proposed by Garnaut insufficient to deal with the threat of damaging future temperature increases. However, he does not refer to the many rejections by top scientists to claims that 2,500 scientists support the assessments by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that such increases will occur. The IPCC secretariat itself denies that such support exists and no less than 31,000 US scientists as well as a number of Australian scientists have rejected analyses such as those reported by Morton. Why are these rejections not reported?
